Third time writing this and Zagreb, and second time Rome so i can’t be arsed with detailing too much, blame wordpress crappy app synching with an earlier online draft rather than later offline version. Lesson learned, backing up on iPhone Notes first!

After our sleep we went to a local supermarket and bought some sandwich materials and crisps, yoghurt and pastries.
Ate most of these at the hostel, booked a hostel in Zagreb on hostel bookers and then started walking around.
The views are very good standing on the bridge that crosses over between Buda and Pest, the river runs alongside the hills which have caves inside and it’s very pretty. I took some panoramic photos i will share later. No cave trips today but we found a church built inside a cave the other side of the bridge, we didn’t go inside but it was there, we chatted to a canadian backpacker whilst near here, he has been hitchhiking around Europe using coach surfers to sleep about and experience cities with interesting locals.
We followed the river around and entered the budapest castle which houses the history museum, it was very maze like inside especially the basement half which is infact the original castle remains. It was nice and cool down there not hot and humid like the rest of the city today.
Time was getting on so we carried our walk on towards the Metro station to get back to main train station, where we saw a bird sheltering in the shade of a planter, Phil picked it up to move it into a bush, it shat on him then flew off to the bush anyway, the birds are so funny here very relaxed to come close to humans, even eat from our hands.
Metro was fast and easy and in an effort to use up the remainder of the money we had withdrawn (we had alot remaining as it’s fairly cheap) we had a big beer, sandwich, snack buyout from the train station shop booth, we bought one of every beer and all their sandwiches, the lady was very confused with us but we had a six hour journey ahead and figures this was best, also we had only eaten sandwiches in the morning and walked a long way!
We got comfy on train then were told we were in the wrong cabin and to move back one. We ended up sharing a cabin with 2 girls from Perth, Kay and Lisa, they both live in the same small town that my Dad moved to, Kay recommended our parents meet up and have a BBQ and Beer together, I gave her my parents and my details and told dad, he was just as surprised as I. The train ride went quickly with our plethora of sandwiches and beer and the easy conversation and swapping of stories.
